The Coach House

The Coach HouseA romantic retreat, the Coach House is a characterful two bedroom stone built cottage.  We understand it was formerly home to the estate gardner and his family prior to the second world war.

Cosy and decorated traditionally this enchanting cottage has exposed stonework, exposed beams & a working log burning stove. The property is double glazed and there is full central heating if required.

The cottage adjoins two of our other  holiday cottages and the C16th manor house.  It overlooks a courtyard to the front and gardens to the rear where a private patio with picnic bench table leads to 5 acres of secluded shared sculpture gardens & seasonal outdoor pool.

Off the beaten track in rural N Devon on the Cornwall border near the breathtaking coast (7 miles), village with pub, garage & shops (1.5 miles). Bude and Clovelly 10 miles.

The Coach House is popular with couples looking for a romantic getaway or for family breaks ((sleeps 2 or up to 4 plus cot).

The split stable door front porch entrance opens into the ground floor dining area and well equipped kitchen with:

  • round wooden dining table and four chairs

There is a seasonal shared outdoor swimming pool (May to Sep) and sculptures exhibited by local artists in the main gardens. The gardens comprise lawned areas, woodland, shrubbery and wild patches with a lovely bluebell wood each May.

Due to minimal light pollution we are one of the remaining dark sky areas so on cloudless nights the night sky, stars, planets, satellites and shooting stars can be clearly seen.

Please note that due to the Covid-19 pandemic we have followed industry and government guidelines to reduce risk to guests, ourselves and others. Consequently we have reduced the number of high traffic touch surfaces in the property by removing cushions, throws, some ornaments, books, magazines, guest comment books, tourism leaflets, extra blankets, games, complimentary products. Despite reduced restrictions we continue these practices and cleaning protocols as best practice and in order to comply with legal covid risk assessments.
